More than 90 consumers, parents, family members, and professionals in the community benefited from The Arc’s recent training series. The series, held between November 2011 and June 2012 featured thirteen diverse topics including insurance programs, transportation services, Advocacy, Social Security benefits, communication services, aging, using the iPAD as adaptive technology, estate planning, extended school year, and seizure recognition.
Presenters donated their time and expertise, and funding from grants and United Way of the Capital Region helped to ensure that each training was free of charge to attendees. Since most were held during lunch hours, a meal was provided.
With an average attendance of 12 individuals at each training, and some boasting as many as 33 attendees, the training series was quite a success – so successful in fact, that The Arc is already busy planning for the next one, slated to begin in August. Currently scheduled topics include:
