The Arc's 2013 Art Show, Shining Like Diamonds, will be held at Strawberry Square in Harrisburg between February 26 and March 23.
This year’s theme, Shining Like Diamonds, highlights the talents and abilities that artists with disabilities have to share with the community. It also ties in with The Arc’s theme for its 60th anniversary celebration in 2013. Diamond Anniversary: 60 Shining years of The Arc.
The Art Show is designed to focus attention on the varied modes of creative communication possible to people whose lives are challenged. The exhibition gives artists with intellectual disabilities an open forum to share creative statements about their world and themselves. The Art Show helps to build self-esteem and confidence in individuals with intellectual disabilities. The show also brings awareness to the services and programs provided by The Arc of Dauphin County and other community agencies.
The Arc wants to make sure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to be part of this unique event. We are looking for artists of all ages and skill levels.
Prizes will be given in the following categories:
6-11 years of age – Youth Division
12-17 years of age – Teen Division
18 and older – Adult Division
